Reddit user Chargebean today put out a hour long compilation of some of the best moments the WWE has presented in in 2016. The WWE was able to create hours of delightful distraction to the shitbag of terror that was 2016. Enjoy below.
NXT put out some of the WWE’s finest moments, including the Shinsuke Nakamura debut against Sami Zayn. Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano’s series of matches against The Revival (who I thought was the best non-Young Buck tag team of the year).
NXT also allowed CFO$ to build a nice repertoire of theme songs.
Outside the WWE, professional wrestling was just as nice. PWG in Receda, California and AAW in the Chicagoland area are a haven for independant wrestling dream matches.
The last match featured was a six-man match between Adam Cole and The Young Bucks vs. “Reborn” Matt Sydal, Ricochet, and Will O’Spreay. A covented opinion in the wrestling world is Dave Meltzer. His opinion on matches are as important as Roger Ebert is to movies, and this match was all five wrestlers’ first five star rated match.
Richocet and Will O’Spreay also had a highly talked about match against each other at the Battle of the Super Juniors (Meltzer gave that match four 3/4 stars).
BROKEN Matt Hardy was a ‘wonderful’ reincarnation in 2016. Impact Wrestling has had a never ending new about the dysfunction that goes on behind the scenes. Ironicly it was the dysfuntion of Matt Hardy’s mind that got people talking about the promotion hanging on a string. His series of matches with and against his sibling Brother Nero, resemble b-rated horrror films of the 70’s and 80’s
Anthem fortunately decided to purchase Impact Wrestling, giving the wrestling company life in 2017. Luckly 2017 has a lot of promise in quality wrestling, especially with the amazing start with Wrestle Kingdom 11 recently.
Pro wrestling will be a great comfort for the massive shit show the year may bring.
